A new initiative for pastured poultry producers of any size looks to establish a recognizable brand for consumers, and input from the public is being asked for. The Indiana Pastured Poultry Branding Initiative is intended to develop quality standards for nutrition, processing, safety and marketing.
Commercial fruit and vegetable growers have had their eye on the Food and Drug Administration's Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) Produce Rule, which took effect in January. Under the Act, growers who meet certain criteria must test water that is applied to harvestable portions of growing crops.
