Dubois County 4-H Cake Decorating is a "how to" project full of information for making and using icing as decoration for cakes, cookies, etc. A project that is exhibited individually but encourages hands-on learning in a group atmosphere. This activity, which can be enjoyed by families and friends, also is an introduction to a money making skill and career.
There are many resources available including a Cake Decorating Reference Book that can be purchased at the Extension Office. Be sure to check out our Pinterest Board for ideas in helping to create your masterpiece.
Cake Decorating is a community judged project. This means that 4-H members will bring their project on project check-in and talk one-on-one with the judge. Typically, community judging is the Friday evening of Fair project check-in. This provides the perfect atmosphere for Q&A, help with technique, and idea sharing.
All members will need to complete a record sheet and skills card. Record sheets must be signed by a 4-H Leader prior to project check-in at the county fair.
Check the 4-H Handbook for complete exhibit details.
Note: Members are required to complete ONE General 4-H Record sheet per year that includes all projects. Cake Decorating also requires submission of skill sheet.
Project Manuals may be requested through the lending library. Visit the 4-H Online Homepage to find directions for requesting manuals.
