The Extension Homemakers Clubs are sponsoring an Adult & Youth Open Class in Home Economics at the county 4-H Fair. This event is open to any adult or youth (including 4-H members & others) who is a present resident of Clay County or who is a member of a Clay County Extension Homemakers or 4-H Club, if residing out of the county. The committee is urging all interested people to enter.

If you have grapes, then you should be on the lookout for black rot. Black rot impacts grape production every year. It is a fungus that infects young canes, flowers, tendrils, leaves, and fruit. Most individuals do not notice they have black rot until they see the dark, mummified grapes on their vines.
Two weeks ago, I assisted one of my co-workers as she taught a class to homeschool children about birds. During the class we talked about the different species, what makes birds unique, and how you care for birds. That got me thinking that now is a great time to do some adjustments to your landscape to attract hummingbirds to your residence.
