Registration is open for Purdue Extension Leadership Vigo County program

Purdue Extension’s Community Leadership Program (CLP) is a leadership training program in Indiana for people who want to make a difference in their communities. The curriculum and content for each program is tailored to the county it is offered in. Confident, skilled, and knowledgeable leaders are needed to inspire, lead, and build dynamic and viable organizations and communities.

CLP aims to improve the quality of life for all in host communities by developing more civically engaged leaders with the knowledge, skills, commitment, and connections to advance positive change. CLP:

  • Opens the door to many opportunities to become civically engaged, strengthening participants’ confidence and desire to take on community leadership roles.    
  • Increases the number, quality, and diversity of leaders involved in public and nonprofit boards, committees, and coalitions, as well as grassroots and volunteer efforts 
  • Builds leadership knowledge and skills to understand and address important community issues and opportunities through high-quality, evidence-based content 
  • Connects current and emerging leaders, building relationships that can last a lifetime! 

 

Leadership Vigo County has a successful curriculum of 12 sessions over six days. Leadership class will meet on Wednesdays from 9am to 4pm, September 11, 25; October 9, 23 and November 6, 20

 

The sessions are:

  1. Introduction to Vigo County, Personality Strengths
  2. Interpersonal Communication, Team Building
  3. Education and Workforce Development, Economic Development and Quality of Place
  4. Cultural Awareness, Managing Conflict
  5. Nonprofit Boards, Effective Meetings
  6. Community Health, Local Government

The program fee is $375. There is a limited amount of $200 scholarships available for those who don’t have access to professional development funds through their workplace, the remaining balance would be $175.  If you’d like to receive the scholarship, you will need to enter the scholarship code when registering for the class. Each session is held at a different location within Vigo County, the complete list of locations will be emailed in August. Registration is due August 14 and is limited to a total of 15 participants each year. You will receive a confirmation email with further program details upon receipt of your registration.
