Rabbit

This is your online resource for the 4-H Rabbit project. The record sheet is attached below. If you have any questions, please refer to the 4-H Handbook or contact the Extension Office.

Here are the requirements for this project:

RABBITS

 

  1. Enter Rabbit identification in the online system by designated date. Instructions will be sent to all Rabbit project members.

        2. All rabbits need to be tattooed, including meat pen rabbits

        3. Only one exhibit per member per class.

        4. 4-H member must show own rabbit.

        5. Exhibitors must be present during judging.

        6. Clean own cage (and under cage) before, during and after the fair.

        7. Provide own bedding, feed, water, fan for animals and a lock for each cage.

        8. 4-H’ers are required to leave minimum of one animal for exhibition the week of the fair. Other rabbits may be taken home after the show.

    Rabbits will be exhibited by breeds. A champion and a reserve champion in each breed.

        Best of Breed Categories are as follows:

    • Senior Buck
    • Senior Doe
    • 6/8 Buck (6 to 8 months of age)
    • 6/8 Doe (6 to 8 months of age)
    • Junior Buck (under 6 months of age)
    • Junior Doe (under 6 months of age)
    • Meat Pen (3 rabbits of the same breed, weighing less than 5 pounds and not over 69 days of age)
    • Breed Champion and Reserve Champion
    • Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion Rabbit will be selected from Breed Champions
    • Showmanship/4-H Ambassador

     

    RABBIT GIVE-AWAY CONTEST: OPEN TO ANY CHILD IN GRADES 2-11 WHO WILL BE ENROLLED IN THE COUNTY 4-H RABBIT PROJECT NEXT YEAR. SEE A CLUB LEADER FOR DETAILS ON HOW TO ENTER.

     

    Poster Exhibit Requirements: Posters are due the Wednesday before the Fair.

    All posters, notebooks, and display boards must include a reference list indicating where information was obtained, giving credit to the original author, to complete the 4-H member’s exhibit. This reference list should/might include web site links, people and professionals interviewed, books, magazines, etc. It is recommended this reference list be attached to the back of a poster or display board, be the last page of a notebook, or included as part of the display visible to the public. A judge is not to discredit an exhibit for the manner in which references are listed.

    Level 1 (Grades 3-5)

    1. Complete a minimum of 4 activities per year in the Level 1 Rabbit manual. Turn in your manual and your green folder with a record sheet on Wednesday prior to the Fair.
    2. Exhibits (do a minimum of one)
    3. Exhibit your animal(s) at the Jackson County Fair.
    4. An educational poster (following poster guidelines) that shows something the 4-H’er learned from a completed activity in the Level 1 manual.
    5. Action Demo at the Fair/Rabbit Illustrated Talk/Action Display

    Level 2 (Grades 6-8)

    1. Complete a minimum of 4 activities per year in the Level 2 Rabbit manual. Turn in your manual and your green folder with a record sheet on Wednesday prior to the Fair.
    2. Exhibits (do a minimum of one)
    3. Exhibit your animal(s) at the Jackson County Fair.
    4. An educational poster (following poster guidelines) that shows something the 4-H’er learned from a completed activity in the Level 2 manual.
    5. Action Demo at the Fair/Rabbit Illustrated Talk/Action Display

    Level 3 (Grades 9-12)

    1. Complete a minimum of 4 activities per year in the Level 3 Rabbit manual. Turn in your manual and your green folder with a record sheet on Wednesday prior to the Fair.
    2. Exhibits (do a minimum of one)
    3. Exhibit your animal(s) at the Jackson County Fair.
    4. An educational poster (following poster guidelines) that shows something the 4-H’er learned from a completed activity in the Level 3 Rabbit manual.
    5. Action Demo at the Fair/Rabbit Illustrated Talk/Action Display
