This is your online resource for the 4-H Dairy project. The record sheet is attached below. If you have any questions, please refer to the 4-H Handbook or contact the Extension Office.

Here are the requirements for this project:

DAIRY

All 4-H dairy animals (registered and non-registered) must be enrolled online by May 15th. Information on how to enroll will be included in the 4-H Newsletter. 4-H members should completely fill out all information on the online system.

 

All dairy heifers and cows must 

  • Be identified with the following:
  • 840 tags may or may not be RFID, 15 digits, beginning with 840
  • Be identified in online system by May 15th.

 

Order – 4-H Showmanship, Alphabetical Order by Breed

Classes

Showmanship – Senior, Junior, Master (Beginning of Show)

  1. Spring Heifer Calf- born March 1, 2021 (over 4 months old)

 

    2. Winter Heifer Calf - born December 1, 2020 to February 28, 2021

 

    3. Fall Heifer Calf - born September 1, 2020 to November 30, 2020

 

    4. Summer Yearling Heifer - born June 1, 2020 to August 31, 2020

 

    5. Spring Yearling Heifer - born March 1, 2020 to May 31, 2020

 

    6. Winter Yearling Heifer – born December 1, 2019 to February 28, 2020

 

    7. Fall Yearling Heifer - born September 1, 2019 to November 30, 2019

 

    8. Junior Champion Female

 

    9. Junior Reserve Champion Female

 

    10. 2 year old cow - born September 1, 2018 to August 31, 2019

 

    11. 3 year old cow - born September 1, 2017 to August 31, 2018

 

    12. 4 year old cow - born prior September 1, 2016 to August 31, 2017

 

    13. Aged Cow- born prior to August 31, 2016

 

    14. Dry Cow, two years old or older, born prior to August 31, 2019

 

    15. Senior Champion Female

 

    16. Senior Reserve Champion Female

 

    17. Grand Champion Female

 

    18. Reserve Grand Champion Female

Poster Exhibit Requirements: Posters are due the Wednesday before the Fair.

All posters, notebooks, and display boards must include a reference list indicating where information was obtained, giving credit to the original author, to complete the 4-H member’s exhibit. This reference list should/might include web site links, people and professionals interviewed, books, magazines, etc. It is recommended this reference list be attached to the back of a poster or display board, be the last page of a notebook, or included as part of the display visible to the public. A judge is not to discredit an exhibit for the manner in which references are listed.

Level 1 (Grades 3-5)

  1. Complete a minimum of 4 activities per year in the Level 1 Dairy manual. Turn in your manual and your green folder with record sheet on Wednesday prior to the fair.
  2. Exhibits (do a minimum of one)
  3. Exhibit your animal(s) at the Jackson County Fair.
  4. An educational poster (following poster guidelines) that shows something the 4-H’er learned from a completed activity in the Level 1 manual.
  5. Action Demo at the Fair. (Sign up at the Extension Office by Wednesday before the Fair.)

Level 2 (Grades 6-8)

  1. Complete a minimum of 4 activities per year in the Level 2 Dairy manual. Turn in your manual and your green folder with record sheet on Wednesday prior to the fair.
  2. Exhibits (do a minimum of one)
  3. Exhibit your animal(s) at the Jackson County Fair.
  4. An educational poster (following poster guidelines) that shows something the 4-H’er learned from a completed activity in the Level 2 manual.
  5. Action Demo at the Fair. (Sign up at the Extension Office by Wednesday before the Fair.)

Level 3 (Grades 9-12)

  1. Complete a minimum of 4 activities per year in the Level 3 Dairy manual. Turn in your manual and your green folder with record sheet on Wednesday prior to the Fair.
  2. Exhibits (do a minimum of one)
  3. Exhibit your animal(s) at the Jackson County Fair.
  4. An educational poster (following poster guidelines) that shows something the 4-H’er learned from a completed activity in the Level 3 manual.
