The Application Form (see link below related files) is due to the Extension Office by 4:00 pm on Friday, March 27. Late forms will not be accepted. This award is based ONLY on 4-H related participation, activities and contributions to your club(s) and the Monroe County 4-H program. Some suggestions to include would be meeting attendance, outstanding leadership, participation in club/community events, projects taken, offices held, 4-H awards received, involvement during fair week, etc. Please do not include any non 4-H activities such as church or school related activities as these will not be considered.

There will be two divisions: Junior: Grades 3 – 8 and Senior: Grades 9 – 12. The 4-H Board Awards Recognition Committee will be choosing the top five finalists for each division. Notification letters will be sent to the top five candidates by April 15. Finalists will be required to submit a 5” x 7” picture (appropriate dress required) electronically to the Extension Office within one week of receiving this letter.

Outside judges will be brought in to interview and rank the finalists. Interviews will be held on Wednesday, May 6 from 6:00-8:00 pm. You will be notified of a specific time for your interview. If you cannot attend the interview in person on this night, please notify the Extension Office so that another applicant can be given the opportunity to interview and be considered for this award.

Each finalist in the Junior division will be required to prepare a 3-5 minute presentation for the interview. Each finalist in the Senior division will be required to prepare a 5-7 minute presentation for the interview. Your presentation should be related to 4-H, such as “What 4-H Means to You” or “Life Skills You Have Learned in 4-H”or something similar.

The winners will be announced at the Awards Night on Friday, July 3 during the Monroe County Fair.

There will be a display set up in the 4-H Building during fair week honoring the top 5 finalists in each division.  A plaque will be awarded (only if an appropriate picture is submitted) to each.
