The Fort Wayne Farm Show is back in 2023! Attendees can expect to enjoy the innovations and wares of over 1,000 booths as well as ample opportunities to attend seminars to learn more about current topics in agriculture from Purdue Cooperative Extension and Northeastern Indiana Soil and Water Conservation Districts. This year’s Farm Show will take place from Tuesday, January 17 through Thursday, January 19 at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne.   

We have a great lineup of speakers for this year’s Farm Show!  All the educational sessions will take place in the Appleseed Room A, right off the main exhibit floor, except the lunch on Wednesday, which will be in Appleseed Room B.

On Tuesday morning at 10:00 AM, David Kohli and John Cavanaugh will deliver their Grain Market Outlook for 2023 with Ryan Martin adding in Weather and Rob Winters providing input as well.   At 11:30 AM Attorney Dan Gordon will discuss farm estate planning during his presentation, “Five Ways to Lose the Family Farm.”  At 2:30 PM, there will be a two-hour Private Applicator Recertification Program offered on “Distilling Down Digital Agriculture” with John Scott, Purdue University Digital Ag Specialist, and James Wolff, Purdue Extension Educator. Private Applicator Recertification Credits, Category 1, 14 and RT commercial credits will be available if you attend the entire two hours for a cost of $10. 

Wednesday morning starts off at 10:00 AM with Jim Mintert, Director of the Center for Commercial Agriculture at Purdue University, who will present on “E-Z Farm Management Tools for 2023.”  At 11:30 AM, there will be the special Farm Bureau Luncheon featuring Randy Kron, Indiana Farm Bureau, Inc. President.  Kron will be speaking on “Farm Bill and Federal Policies” This is a free lunch with the first 175 people in the door getting a meal. The lunch is sponsored by Indiana Farm Bureau, Inc. and Adams, Allen, DeKalb, Huntington, LaGrange, Noble, Steuben, Wells, and Whitley County Farm Bureaus.

On Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 PM, there will be three presentations specific to farm fertilizer management.  First, Josh Vollmar from The Andersons, Inc. will present, “Fertilizer & Commodity Outlook.” Next, Theresa Dirksen will discuss Alternative Fertilizers.  Dirksen is the Ag & Natural Resources Director from Mercer Co., OH.  Finally, Ben Wicker, Director of IN Agriculture Nutrient Alliance will present, “Maximizing Your Fertilizer Investment.”

Wednesday evening at 5:30 PM, Aaron Chaflet from Chaflet Brothers Partnership and Chris Steele, Steele Farms, will present, “Innovative Ways to Tell Your Ag Story.”

On Thursday morning at 10:00 AM, Hugo Van Roessel from ADM will present, “Market Outlook 2023.”  Jason Williamson, Vice-Chairman of Crop Insurance Professionals Assn. (CIPA) will then discuss, “What Do the Numbers Say?  PLC & SCO or ARC-CO.”

At 11:00 AM on Thursday, Bill Horan, Purdue Extension Educator, will share a presentation on “Farm Pond and Weed Management.”  Lastly, on Thursday, Purdue Extension Educators otherwise known as the “Quad Squad Drone Team” will demonstrate and discuss using drones on the farm at 12:30 PM.

The Farm Show will be open from 9 AM to 5 PM on January 17, 9 AM to 8 PM on January 18, and 9 AM to 4 PM on January 19.
