Forestry Field Day - Herrmann Reserve

Join us for the forestry field day to learn about tree planting, grassland restoration, and deer/rabbit impact on trees. It will take place at the Herrmann Reserve in Redkey, IN on April 27th from 9:30am to 2:30pm.

Topics:

Establishing & Managing Young Tree Plantations
  • We'll walk through the process of establishing a successful tree planting
  • Show & tell of multiple plantings
  • Demonstrations of hand and machine planting

Grassland Restoration Process

  • We'll explore several NWSG and wildflower plantings and discover ways to increase success

Monitoring & Managing Deer/Rabbit Impact on Forests & New Tree Plantings

  • We'll show how and why wildlife can hamper habitat restoration efforts and some methods to mitigate negative impacts

Don Carlson, Forester, Purdue Forestry and Natural Resources, will be presenting and answering any questions you may have.
