The Food Systems Coordinator supports small, diverse farms and value-added food businesses in Indiana. We are also involved in local food in terms of food safety, economics, and education.

Poison ivy, Rhus radicans or Toxicodendron radicans, is an undeniable plant menace in home landscapes. I’m allergic to its plant oils, as you may be. It’s the plant we all love to hate.
Purdue Extension provided in-person and virtual basic training for gardening enthusiasts who desire to volunteer in consumer horticulture education projects. The training is at least 40 hours and covers required topics: plant science, soils and plant nutrition, plant disease diagnosis, weed ID and control, insect ID and control, invasive species, pesticide safety and alternatives, lawn care, herbaceous and woody ornamentals, vegetable and fruit gardening, and animal pest management.
The Indiana Forage Council’s Hoosier Hay Contest begins Saturday, June 1, this year. The friendly competition encourages Indiana producers to cultivate higher quality hay during the 2024 season.
