This workshop will consist of 16 hours of curriculum geared toward teaching participants about an introduction and application of the technology,  camera settings, sensors, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Part 107 Remote Pilot Knowledge Test Preparation, flight plans, record keeping, free flights, planned flights, use of third party applications/processing software, data management, image quality, troubleshooting, and emergency preparation. The series offers a unique design with a blend of hands on activities and interactive lectures to reinforce the material presented. The target audience includes anyone with an interest in the use of UAVs in their operation (agriculture, real estate, law enforcement, emergency management, county personnel, governmental employees, etc.). It is important to note that anyone utilizing a UAV commercially is REQUIRED to have a remote pilot certification by the FAA. After participating in this series, participants should feel more confident with the proper materials to study for the Remote Pilot Knowledge Test and obtaining their certification, the legality associated with flying UAVs, experience in flying UAVs, flight planning, and proper application of the technology. Registration costs ($290.00) will include a binder filled with materials from the class, refreshments, and a Tello UAV. That’s right… participants will be able to take a smaller UAV home with them to continue to sharpen their flight skills.

The program is being piloted in two locations. The first location will be a 4 day program hosted at the Clinton County 4-H Fairgrounds beginning on March 4, 2019 8:00 am – 12:00 pm. The series will continue on March 7, 11, and 14th.  The second pilot program will be located at the Davis Purdue Agriculture Center on March 18 and 19th from 8:00 am – 4:30 pm.
