Early Prepping for the Steuben County 4-H Fair July 16-22, 2021

The 2020 virtual fair was a success, but we are gearing up for an in-person fair, July 16-22, 2021.

As the 4-H Programs/Publicity Committee makes decisions, we will fill in events under the days listed below. Please stay tuned and/or offer your creative suggestions for quality, family entertainment by emailing mosier@purdue.edu.

 

 

Pre-Fair Activities

Friday, January 15 - 4-H Enrollment Due in 4HOnline (enrolling your child)
Saturday, May 15 - 4-H Animal Identification Due in 4HOnline (enrolling all POTENTIAL animals)
TENTATIVE: Wednesday, June 30 - 4-H Fair Entries Due in FairEntry (sharing what you are ACTUALLY exhibiting at the county fair)
Saturday, July 10, 8am-Noon - Pre-Fair Cleanup
Monday, July 12, 7 pm, County Park - 4-H Fair Board Meeting
Tuesday, July 13 - Extension Office Temporarily Relocates to the County Park
Wednesday, July 14, Time TBD, Event Center - Non-Perishable 4-H Project Check-In
Thursday, July 15, Time TBD, Event Center - Perishable 4-H Project Check-In; Non-Animal 4-H Project Judging; 4-H Poultry Check-In

 

Friday, July 16

  •  8 AM – Noon – 4-H Livestock Project Check-in, Livestock Barns
  • 1 PM – 4-H Dog Show, Rensch Hall
  • 1 PM – 4-H Poultry Show, Poultry Barn
  • 3 PM - 4-H Faceoff Registration Due, Fair Office
  • 5:30 PM – Opening Ceremonies, Rensch Hall Stage
  • 8 - 11 PM – Free Concert:  Mason Dixon Line, Rensch Hall @masondixonlineband

Saturday, July 17 

  • 9 AM – 4-H Swine Show, Rensch Hall
  • 9 - 11 AM – Open Class Project Check-in, Lions Building
  • 10 AM – 4-H Rabbit Show, Rabbit Barn
  • Noon – 4-H Rocket Launch Rain Date, meet outside Event Center
  • 1 PM – Open Class Exhibit Judging, Lions Building
  • 2 PM – 4-H Dairy Show, Rensch Hall
  • 4 PM – Open Class Silent Auction for Baked Goods, Lions Building
  • 4 - 8 PM - Chainsaw Carvings by Scott Lepley
  • 6 - 8 PM – Free Concert: Mud Creek, Rensch Hall
  • 8 PM – IPRA and Mid-States Rodeo by Diamond J Rodeo Company, Grandstands (show includes: Bull Riding, Calf Roping, Barrel Racing, Steer Wrestling, Saddle Bronc, Team Roping, Bareback Riding)

Sunday, July 18

  • 9 AM – 4-H Horse & Pony Show (English, Versatility, Speedmanship), H&P Arena
  • 2 PM – 4-H Consumer Clothing and 4-H Sewing Fashion Revue Judging, Lions Building
  • 2 PM - Auburn Community Band
  • 2 PM – 4-H Dairy Feeder Steer, Beef Feeder, Dairy Steer, and Beef Shows, Rensch Hall
  • 4 - 8 PM – Chainsaw Carvings by Scott Lepley
  • 4 - 9 PM – JoJu Animal Petting Zoo and Pig Races
  • 7:30 PM – 4-H Faceoff, Rensch Hall

Monday, July 19

 

EVENT CENTER CLOSED AT 3 PM FOR CHEER COMPETITION

  • 8:30 AM – 4-H Started Calf Show, Rensch Hall
  • 11 AM – 4-H Horse & Pony Show, H&P Arena
  • 2 PM – 4-H Cat & Kitten Show, Rensch Hall
  • 3 PM – Event Center Closed for Cheer Competition Prep
  • 4 PM – 4-H Verbal Communications Presentations, Rensch Hall
  • 4 - 9 PM – JoJu Animal Petting Zoo and Pig Races
  • 5 PM - 4-H Sheep Show, Rensch Hall
  • 6 PM – Cheerleading Competition, Event Center ($1 entry, cash only)

Tuesday, July 20

 

  • 8:30 AM – 4-H Goat Show, Rensch Hall
  • 1 PM – Kids’ Carnival Games, ages 0-12, Rensch Hall
  • 2 PM – 4-H Horse & Pony Show (Speed), H&P Arena
  • 2:30 PM – Paper Airplane Toss, ages 3-12, Rensch Hall
  • 4 - 9 PM – JoJu Animal Petting Zoo and Pig Races
  • 7 - 9 PM – Free Concert: The Hubie Ashcraft Band, Rensch Hall @hubieashcraftband

Wednesday, July 21

  • 10 AM – 4-H Livestock Skill-a-thon, Rensch Hall
  • 1 PM – Water Games for 4-H’ers, meet west of the Horse & Pony Barn
  • 2:30 PM - 4-H Blender Bike and Spin Art, Lions Building
  • 4 – 9 PM – JoJu Animal Petting Zoo (no pig races today)
  • 4 PM – 4-H Small Animal Supreme Showmanship Contest, Rensch Hall
  • 6 PM – 4-H Large Animal Supreme Showmanship Contest (Horse), H&P Arena
  • 6:15 PM – 4-H Large Animal Supreme Showmanship Contest, Rensch Hall
  • Following Showmanship – Release of Non-Auction and Non-Block Sale Animals

Thursday, July 22

  • 8 – 9 AM – Release of 4-H Project Exhibits, Steuben County Event Center
  • 8:30 AM – 4-H Champion Pictures, Steuben County Event Center
  • 9 AM – Event Center Clean-up
  • 10 AM – 4-H Livestock Auction, Rensch Hall
