Curb Your Urge to Splurge

Week 2 Day 5

Irma wants to try the "envelope method".  This method is easy to use for the entire family and inexpensive.  Label envelopes with your holiday expenses and put all invoices and receipts in the envelopes immediately.  Labels might include food, family reunion, toys for kids, gifts for Grandparents, travel/vacation, spouse, kids, school/church party and pets.  Click here for a form to include in each envelope.  "After the fact" may be useful if you're just getting started and have no idea how to spend your holiday dollars.  Keep all of your receipts and put them into a file or envelope.  Every week, sort through your receipts and categorize them, based upon one of the previous tracking plans explained earlier.

There really is no right or wrong way to track your spending so try different ways until you find one that works for you and you can stick with.  It's not about the tracking.  It's about making sure you are able to achieve your holiday spending goals and still live your life. "Curbyoursplurge
