The staffs of the Purdue University Agricultural Safety & Health program and Indiana PREPared have just released a newly updated “Glossary of Agrosecurity Terms.” This glossary was originally developed by Bill Field, Extension Safety Specialist and Professor of Agricultural and Biological Engineering, for use by students in his agrosecurity class that was established after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.
This spring, the glossary was updated with dozens of new terms, many of which relate to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the document includes terminology associated with nearly any type of disaster or emergency situation, especially those involving agriculture or farming. The glossary can be used by teachers, extension educators, and the public easily learn the meanings of hundreds of terms, which are defined in language for “non-emergency” people to understand.
