Purdue Extension in northeast Indiana will host a field day on August 25 for farmers and agribusiness professionals highlighting current agronomic research. The field day will be held at Northeast Purdue Agricultural Center (NEPAC), 4821 E. 400 S, Columbia City, IN.
The program begins with a series of morning workshops led by Purdue Extension experts. Workshop topics and presenters include:
* Weed Control Update, by Bill Johnson, Purdue Extension weed specialist
* Field Crop Disease In-Season Update, by Darcy Telenko, Purdue Extension field crops pathologist
* Corn Production Update, by Daniel Quinn, Purdue Extension corn specialist
* Hot Topics in Soybean Production, by Shaun Casteel, Purdue Extension soybean specialist
* Anhydrous Ammonia Safety, by Ann Kline, Purdue Extension Educator
Optional afternoon demonstration sessions will be available on anhydrous ammonia safety and on the use of a spray drone (UAV - Unmanned Aerial Vehicle).
Participants can receive private applicator recertification program credit. Indiana Corn Marketing Council and Indiana Soybean Alliance will be sponsoring the individual $10 fee. Commercial applicator CCHs and Certified Crop Adviser CEUs are anticipated to be available.
Registration, refreshments and vendor visits will take place from 8:00 to 8:30 a.m. The program will run from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., with lunch provided. Optional afternoon sessions will be from 1:30-2:30 p.m. Admission is free, but registration is required by Aug. 18 to receive a meal.
