2022 Fort Wayne Farm Show

The Fort Wayne Farm Show is returning after having a two-year hiatus due to COVID-19. This year’s Farm Show will take place from Tuesday, January 18 through Thursday, January 20 at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne.
We have a great lineup of speakers for this year’s Farm Show! All the educational sessions will take place in the Appleseed Room A, right off the main exhibit floor, except the lunches on Tuesday and Wednesday—those will be in Appleseed Room B.
On Tuesday morning at 10:00 AM, David Kohli and John Cavanaugh will deliver their Grain Market Outlook for 2022 with Ryan Martin adding in Weather and Rob Winters providing input as well. At 11:30 AM a luncheon will be held in Appleseed Room B with Ryan Martin, Chief Meteorologist with Hoosier Ag Today discussing “Cashing in on Carbon”. This luncheon is sponsored by Louis Dreyfus, Co. At 2:00 PM, there will be a two-hour Private Applicator Recertification Program offered on Pressures Challenging Crop Production with John Obermeyer, Purdue Entomology Specialist, and Darcy Telenko, Purdue Plant Pathology Specialist. Private Applicator Recertification Credits will be available if you attend the entire two hours for a cost of $10. Category 1 and 14 commercial credits will also be available.
Wednesday morning starts off at 10:00 AM with a discussion by Dr. Chris Winslow, Director of the Ohio Sea Grant Program with Ohio State University. Dr. Winslow will be looking at the state of Lake Erie and some of the actions taken in the last several years. At 11:30 AM, there will be the special Farm Bureau Luncheon featuring Bob White, Director of National Government Relations with Indiana Farm Bureau, Inc. Mr. White will be speaking on “Farm Bill or Climate Bill: Which will it Be?” This is a free lunch with the first 150 people in the door getting a meal. The lunch is sponsored by Indiana Farm Bureau, Inc. and Adams, Allen, DeKalb, Huntington, LaGrange, Noble, Steuben, Wells, and Whitley County Farm Bureaus.
On Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 PM, we will have a panel discussion looking at the economics of green energy. At 3:30 PM, Beth Hall, Indiana State Climatologist, will speak on the Impacts of Climate Change to Agriculture.
Wednesday evening at 5:00 PM, Joelle Neff, Watershed Project Manager with Allen County Soil and Water Conservation District, and Elli Blaine, Urban Soil Health Program Director, will talk about resources available for Urban and Small Farms. At 6:00 PM, James Wolff, Allen County Extension ANR Educator, will hold a session looking at and understanding urban soils.
On Thursday morning at 10:00 AM, Jim Mintert, Director of the Center for Commercial Agriculture at Purdue University, will present his take on the “2022 Grain Market Outlook.” At 12:30 PM, a workshop will be provided discussing Commodity Marketing, titled “To Sell or Not to Sell, That’s the Question”. Ryan Martin, Farm Origination Specialist with Louis Dreyfus, and Ed Farris, Huntington County Extension ANR Educator, will walk participants through the process of commodity marketing.
The Farm Show will be open from 9 AM to 5 PM on January 15, 9 AM to 8 PM on January 16, and 9 AM to 4 PM on January 17.
