Purdue Extension in Whitley County will offer a private applicator recertification program (PARP) to local producers Dec. 2. The program will review 2021 crop diseases and insects.

The program will be held at the Whitley County Ag Museum on the Whitley County 4-H Fairgrounds, 680 West Squawbuck Road, Columbia City, IN. Check in will begin on Dec. 2 at 1:30 p.m. The program will begin at 2:00 p.m. and run until 4:00 p.m. Sign up for PARP credit will follow the conclusion of the program.

Topics to be covered include:

  • Update on tar spot, other crop diseases, and fungicide use, by Dr. Darcy Telenko, Purdue field crops pathologist
  • Review of fall armyworm and other notorious forage and field crop insects: employing IPM strategies, by John Obermeyer, Purdue IPM specialist
  • Private applicator recordkeeping, by John Woodmansee, Extension Educator, Whitley County

The $10 PARP fee, normally paid by producers, will be covered by Indiana Soybean Alliance and Indiana Corn Marketing Council.

Commercial applicator CCHs and Certified Crop Advisor CEUs will also be available.
