Over the past few months, Purdue Extension Vermillion County has been very busy! This fall newsletter discusses everything from news within the Homemakers club to tips for holiday shoppers. You can learn more about closing gardens and events that are soon to occur within Vermillion county by reading the attached PDF at the bottom of this page.

Here is one story featured on the newsletter:

MONEY AS YOU GROW BOOK CLUB

Money as You Grow Book Club will be returning to Vermillion County public libraries!  Money as You Grow book club is a family financial education program that uses children’s books to help families talk about and discover new skills.  We’re still in the planning stages, so watch for details to be available soon!

Money as You Grow Book Club will be offered at both the Vermillion County Public Library in Newport and the Clinton Public Library.  Once each month, participants will meet together for the selected book to be read.  The book club will include a discussion about the book, a snack and an activity. Parents will receive a free guide that goes along with the month’s book.   Each guide contains a set of key ideas.  There are 12 key ideas in all, grouped into three main learning areas: Planning (setting goals, prioritizing, solving problems and making decisions) Money (earning, spending, saving, and sharing & borrowing) Me (self-control, follow-through, staying true to yourself, and flexibility)

If your family is interested in participating in the Money as You Grow Book Club, contact Children’s Librarians Vanda Liesman (Vermillion County Public Library) at 765-492-3555 or Harmony Harris (Clinton Public Library) at 765-832-8349,  or Lori Bouslog at Purdue Extension Vermillion County (lbouslog@purdue.edu, 765-492-5332).
