Growing and Giving with PEMC Master Gardeners

If you've ever visited the Demonstration Garden located at the Indiana State Fairgrounds, you've probably wondered what happens to all of the vegetables that are grown in the garden.

To answer that question, currently vegetables are delivered 2-3 times per week to the Mid-North Food Pantry located right here in Indianapolis. MNFP's mission is to enhance the health of Indianapolis' mid-north neighborhoods by providing supplemental food and basic necessities for our neighbors in needs.

The MNFP provides the following services: supplemental food/basic necessities, nutritional information, and nutritional cooking.

Lynn Rocco, a long time PEMC Master Gardener and volunteer says that she's thankful for every Master Gardener who's helped to make the Demo Garden what it is today.

"Many thanks are extended to the Master Gardener volunteers who have been involved in the planning, planting, harvesting, produce delivery and maintenance of the garden. Also, a big round of applause should be given to those volunteers who spent countless hours at the Demo Garden during the Indiana State Fair."

As of September 1, 2022 PEMC Master Gardeners have donated 1,328 lbs and 7 oz worth of produce to Mid-North Food Pantry! The Demonstration garden is filled with a diverse range of produce ranging from: bell peppers, cucumbers, swiss chard, tomatoes, hot peppers, and many more!
