Join the Lake County Master Gardeners as they present a free program on "All About Bats” with Chuck Roth, Jr., horticulturist and owner of Chesterton Feed & Garden Center, on October 28, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. The program will take place at Purdue Cooperative Extension - Lake County, 2293 N. Main Street, Crown Point (building adjacent to Lake County Government Center).
Learn why bats are important to us and our ecosystem here and around the world, the endangerment of bats and how we can help protect them in their natural environments and habitats. Since it’s near Halloween we’ll bring up some myths about bats, too!
Chuck Roth, Jr., has been the owner/operator of Chesterton Feed & Garden Center since 1980. He graduated with his Horticultural Technology degree in 1979. Chuck is an Indiana Certified Horticulturist. His organizations, interests, and activities include the Northwest Indiana Nursery and Landscape Association (serving as President, Vice President and a continuing, long term board member) and Friends of Indiana Dunes (serving as President, Vice President, board member and Chairman of the Native Plant Sale). He is a member and serves on the boards of numerous community organizations in Porter County and Chesterton. His long-time interest in bats and his dedication to continuing education and giving back to the community, bring him to us to teach us “all about bats.”
