Join the Lake County Master Gardeners as they present a free program on "Invasive Species & How to Control Them" with Ronda Spaulding on Saturday, September 14th, at 10:00 a.m. The program will take place at Purdue Cooperative Extension - Lake County, 2293 N. Main Street, Crown Point (building adjacent to Lake County Government Center).
Have you ever admired a plant in your garden, only to discover its destructive potential in our natural areas? Join us as we explore the dark side of some of our most beloved landscaping choices. Our speaker will shed light on the invasive species that have infiltrated our landscapes and are wreaking havoc on our ecosystems.
We'll uncover the identities of 7-10 of these plant culprits and learn effective methods to control them in both home gardens and larger areas. You'll leave this talk equipped with the knowledge to make informed decisions about your plant selections and contribute to the preservation of our natural heritage.
In addition to those highlighted a dishonorable mention list of others will be provided so that folks can pursue their own study. Good website resources and tools to determine if a plant is invasive will also be provided.
