Part Time Extension Program Assistant

The Benton County office of the Purdue Cooperative Extension Service is seeking a motivated individual to become a part of our Extension team. The applicant will provide administrative support to the Extension Educators. He/she will be responsible for database management, and the coordination of marketing/communication materials for 4-H related activities and other Extension programs such as Safe Place. Compose correspondence, compile reports, write proposals and design website. Manage office resources to provide timely and accurate responses to the Extension Educators. Maintain knowledge of appropriate Purdue and County procedures to ensure confidentiality and accuracy. Ensure efficient workflow to complete dissemination activities for 4-H Youth Development program. Maintain and update 4-H program database and statistics. Complete extension projects, correspondence, and reports as needed.

 Requirements:

  • High School diploma.
  • Ability to work with large complex data files.
  • Proficiency with the following computer and common business software required, such as Microsoft Office.
  • Must be extremely flexible and adaptable to constantly varying work environments and daily supervision.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills along with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent planning, problem-solving, organizational, project management and customer service skills.
  • Requires highly motivated individual who will take initiative to solve problems, assume responsibility, and meet deadlines.
  • Must be creative, thorough, and professional, must be detail-oriented and possess the ability to multi-task effectively, must be able to handle interruptions, and handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Ability to build collaborative work relationships among co-workers, AgIT, University administrative and extension offices, county agencies, schools, businesses, and community volunteers, including being sensitive to professional ethics, gender, cultural diversities and disabilities.
  • Ability to occasionally work extended, weekend and/or evening hours.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and demonstrated safe driving record.
