Visit the Intercultural Learning Hub

The Intercultural Learning Hub (HubICL), powered by HUBzero® [1], is an online collaborative space for researchers, educators, and entrepreneurs in intercultural learning. On the HubICL, these community members share knowledge, research, learning activities, and tips through contributions to Groups, Collections, Forums, a Research Repository, and a Digital Toolbox. The Center for Intercultural Learning, Mentorship, Assessment and Research (CILMAR) at Purdue University launched the HubICL in 2018 to offer mentorship and curated resources to facilitators of intercultural learning in order to promote best practices and innovations.

The HubICL, designed with this scholarship in mind, fosters intercultural learning by providing opportunities and resources for successful engagement in intercultural interactions. Compared to Google searches, resource books, conference workshops, and consultant websites, the HubICL provides extensive curated resources to users. The HubICL is the first intercultural learning platform that serves as a “one-stop-shop” for networking, collaboration, and resource exchange. (Individuals in the photo adjacent are participating in an experiential tool called, How Easy is My Daily Life (Lego Privilege Activity), available on the HubICL.)

The HubICL targets a diverse, interdisciplinary audience. The development of the HubICL required a joint effort from the HUBzero team and CILMAR staff to create a functional platform that met the needs of its unique users. Currently, there are 655 tools (published and unpublished) in the Toolbox. The Toolbox (https://hubicl.org/) illustrates CILMAR’s strategy for growing the HubICL community and defines the next steps for fostering a more active membership base.
