The Indy Rezone effort to update the entire city zoning code includes explicit urban agricultural zoning where before the code was largely silent. Last year, Purdue Extension - Marion County guided public input for the new urban agriculture code. Now, the code is being presented to the City-County Council.
Agreeing with consumer groups, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) last month rejected a request to expand unwanted, automated cell phone calls and texts. The FCC issued clarifications to the Telephone Consumer Protection Act that would make it easier for consumers to say "no" to these "robocalls."
Many people become afraid of what they or other people might do in conflict situations. Others become excited and look forward to a good fight. The Attorney General's Office is warning people about a phone scam targeting property taxpayers. Several Marion County residents have reported scam phone calls to the Marion County Treasurer's Office in which the caller claims to be from the Treasurer's or Auditor's Office and tells them that their property will be reviewed by the Court or sold the next day unless delinquent property taxes are paid immediately over the phone.
Purdue Extension - Marion County welcomes Shelby Swain and Nicole Yount as full-time interns this summer. Both are Purdue undergraduate students and are a helpful addition to the office.
