AGRICULTURE: Planning for the 2020 Planting Season During the COVID-19 Pandemic

March 26, 2020
Farmer planting seed in a field with a tractor.

Bob Nielsen, Purdue Extension corn specialist, and Shaun Casteel, Purdue Extension soybean specialist, discuss possible implications of COVID-19 on the 2020 planting season in the second Purdue Crop Chat podcast — hosted by Purdue Extension and Hoosier Ag Today.

Nielsen and Casteel stress the importance of planning for this year’s season and preparing for possible supply chain disruptions.

They both recommend reaching out now to agriculture retailers and cooperatives — through communication that maintains proper social distancing — in hopes of avoiding future disruptions in seed and chemical inventory.
