ServSafe is a food and beverage safety training and certificate program accredited by the National Restaurant Association and the Conference for Food Protection. A certification is acquired through examination. The ServSafe Food Manager training is not required; however, training is beneficial in helping pass the comprehensive exam.
You must score a 75 percent or higher to earn the ServSafe Food Manager certificate. The certification is valid for five years. A photo ID with signature is required to take the exam (driver license, state ID, student ID, military ID, employee ID, U.S. permanent resident card, or valid passport).
Indiana requires each food service establishment to have one certified food handler on staff. For more information about Indiana Certification Requirements, contact your local health department.
