Purdue Extension: Expert Resources for COVID-19

This is your online resource for the 4-H Soybean project. The record sheet is below. If you have any questions, please refer to the 4-H Handbook or contact the Extension Office.

Here are the requirements for this project:


4-H member must fill out a record sheet to be turned in with the green/white record book.

4-H members can exhibit both one (1) peck of soybean seeds AND five (5) full grown plants.

Note: 4-H members do not have to exhibit both a peck of soybean seeds and five grown plants, but they can if they choose to do so. There will be a champion in each division and one overall grand champion soybean exhibit.

Peck of Soybean Seeds

  1. Exhibit one peck (8 quarts or ¼ bushel) of soybean seeds in sack furnished by member.
  2. One exhibit per member.

Full Grown Plants

  1. Exhibit five full grown plants (including roots) tied together to hang upside down.
  2. On one of the plants, using shipping tags or 3” x 5” cards, correctly identify and label five exterior plant parts.

There will be three divisions divided according to members’ grades:

Beginner (Grades 3-5), Intermediate (Grades 6-8), Advanced (Grades 9-12)
