Child Development

This is your online resource for the 4-H Child Development project. The record sheet is below. If you have any questions, please refer to the 4-H Handbook or contact the Extension Office.

Here are the requirements for this project:

CHILD DEVELOPMENT

All posters, notebooks, and display boards must include a reference list indicating where information was obtained, giving credit to the original author, to complete the 4-H member’s exhibit. This reference list should/might include web site links, people and professionals interviewed, books, magazines, etc. It is recommended this reference list be attached to the back of a poster or display board, be the last page of a notebook, or included as part of the display visible to the public. A judge is not to discredit an exhibit for the manner in which references are listed.

Level A (Grades 3-4)

  1. Complete a record sheet.
  2. Complete at least 4 activities per year in Level A Child Development manual. Turn in your manual at judging.
  3. Exhibits (do a minimum of one)
  4. Choose one activity that you completed in this level. Design a 22”x28” poster or binder notebook that shows or tells what you did with this activity.
  5. Create a display no larger than 36”x36”x36” using one of the activities form your project manual. Complete an Activity Card and attach it to the exhibit. A sample Activity Card is on pg. 40 of your project manual. Use a 5”x8” index card or larger cardstock to create your card.
  6. Action Demonstration at the Fair. (Sign up in the Extension Office by Wednesday before the Fair.)

      Level B (Grades 5-6)

  1. Complete a record sheet.
  2. Complete at least 4 activities per year in Level B Child Development manual. Turn in your manual at judging.
  3. Exhibits (do a minimum of one)
  4. Choose one activity that you completed in this level. Design a 22”x28” poster or a binder notebook that shows or tells what you did with this activity.
  5. Create a display no larger than 36”x36”x36” using one of the activities from your project manual. Complete an Activity Card and attach it to the exhibit. A sample Activity Card is on pg. 40. Use a 5”x8” index card or larger cardstock to create your card.

      Level C (Grades 7, 8, 9)

  5. Display a binder notebook that includes that information from one of the activities you completed this year.
  6. Create a display no larger than 36”x36”x36” using one of the activities from your project manual or one that promotes physical, emotional or cognitive skills. Complete an Activity Card and attach it to the exhibit. A sample Activity Card is on pg. 40. Use a 5”x8” index card or larger cardstock to create your card.

Level D (Grades 10, 11, 12)
