Agriculture continues to expand exponentially in technology and production while developing sustainable methods to protect the environment.  Producers are challenged to maintain profitability and sustainability in their operations.  Agri-business is also challenged to meet ever growing demands to service clients and remain profitable.  Some of the greatest challenges faced by agriculture are depressed markets, weather, and finding the right successor.  These challenges require farmers and agri-business to be extremely efficient and strategic in their business planning in order to be sustainable during these difficult times.  Urban Ag and organic producers as well as commercial farmers experience similar challenges and needs.

The Farm Management Focus Group designs and delivers research based educational programing and resources to assist producers and agri-business owners develop the skills to be successful in a very challenging business.  The focus group provides programming in farm financial accounting and analysis, marketing, succession planning, employee management, strategic planning, risk management, and mental health and wellness for families struggling with farm stress.

Goal:  To build capacity of agribusinesses and farms to address economic issues in business planning, operational management, strategic decision making, marketing and business transition. To assist farmers in dealing with stress related to volatile markets and unusual weather.
