Face Masks for Henry County Emergency Management

March 25, 2020
Sewing masks

The Henry County Emergency Management Office and Henry County Health Dept. are in dire need of simple cotton face masks for staff members who work in nursing homes and group homes. These masks are to protect the staff members from sharing any respiratory illnesses from the outside world. If a staff member or patient does develop respiratory symptoms, then they will change over to the regular regulated hospital masks at that time. These masks are a precautionary step to keeping patients well.

You will find enclosed instructions for the making of these simple masks. You can also find a mask pattern online or at Henry County Hospitals website. Angela Cox, Henry County Health Dept. states that you may use any material that is available to you, just not loosely woven and materials like canvas that have no air flow. Cotton is a great suggestion. If you do not have elastic, you may make ties from the cotton that can be tied at the back of the head and on top of the head.
The need for masks in Henry County is great. They are hoping to have up to 3500 made.

When you have completed your masks, please contact Ron Huffman at 765-524-4848 to arrange a time to drop them off at the Emergency Management Office at 12th and Race Street.

Thank you for your assistance in this matter. If we all work together, we can achieve great things!
