Private Applicator Program Planned Dec. 19

Purdue Extension in Noble and Whitley Counties will offer a private applicator recertification program (PARP) to local producers Dec. 19, 2023.

The program will be conducted twice on December 19, and growers may choose which one best fits their schedule. It will be conducted from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. at the Noble County South Complex (Dekko Room), 2090 N SR 9, Albion, IN; and it will be conducted from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Whitley County Ag Museum (on the Whitley County 4-H Fairgrounds), 680 W. Squawbuck Rd, Columbia City, IN. Check-in for both events will start one-half hour prior to the program start time. Official sign-up for PARP credits will follow each meeting.

Topics to be covered include:

  • Forage Species/Variety Selection for Pest Management, by Dr. Keith Johnson, Purdue forage specialist
  • Pesticide Regulatory Update, by John Woodmansee, Extension Educator in Whitley County
  • Pesticide Case Studies from Industry, by Ann Kline, Extension Educator in Noble County

The $10 PARP fee, normally paid by producers, will be covered by Indiana Soybean Alliance and Indiana Corn Marketing Council.

Reservations are required by Dec. 15. To register, call the Noble County Extension office at 260-636-2111 for the Albion PARP, or call the Whitley County Extension office at 260-244-7615 for the Columbia City PARP. Alternatively, register online at tiny.cc/PARP23. This program will count as an official meeting toward your private applicator license, one of the 3 required meetings during the 5-year active license period. It will count for private pesticide or fertilizer (manure) applicators. Since the program is repeated content at both locations, you may not attend both programs for 2 meeting credits. Commercial applicator CCHs may be available.
