Youth Mental Health First Aid

Youth Mental Health First Aid is designed to teach parents, family members, caregivers, teachers, school staff, peers, neighbors, health and human services workers, and other caring citizens how to help an adolescent (age 12-18) who is experiencing a mental health or addictions challenge or is in crisis. Youth Mental Health First Aid is primarily designed for adults who regularly interact with young people. The course introduces common mental health challenges for youth, reviews typical adolescent development, and teaches a 5-step action plan for how to help young people in both crisis and non-crisis situations. Topics covered include anxiety, depression, substance use, disorders in which psychosis may occur, disruptive behavior disorders (including AD/HD), and eating disorders.


This course will be held in Wayne County at the Wayne County Fairgrounds (861 Salisbury Road North, Richmond, IN 47374) in the Kuhlman Center on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 from 9:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m. Registration is required and can be completed at:


There is a $20.00 course participant fee, which covers all materials, snacks, drinks, and lunch, which will be catered, onsite. 


All federal, state, and county COVID 19-related protocols will be applicable. Because the Wayne County Fairgrounds is Wayne County Government property, face coverings will be required. Face coverings will be available onsite for those in need.
