Your Land, Your Legacy – Women’s Forum
Washington County women landowners are invited to a free conservation discussion and field tour on Friday, October 13, 2023 in Salem, IN called “Your Land, Your Legacy.”
For nine years, the Washington County Community Foundation and the Washington County Conservation Partnership has offered this peer-to-peer, informal discussion program format to allow women landowners and land users to discuss their individual farm management goals.
The program is Friday, October 13, 2023, at the Washington County Community Foundation Building (1707 N. Shelby, Salem, IN 47167) at 9:00 am with registration starting at 8:30 am. Attendance is capped at 25 participants. The afternoon will include a field trip to a first-generation small farm that is successful due to the diligence of a very hard working and persistent woman. The program will end at the Washington County Community Foundation with refreshments at 3:30 pm.
Program topics include: diversification, small farm operations, bringing the next generation to the farm, and incorporating conservation practices, no matter the farm’s size.
RSVPs are required no later than 4:00 pm on Friday, October 6 to the Washington County Soil & Water Conservation District at 812-883-3006, ext. 3 or wcswcd20@gmail.com. If special accommodations are needed to participate or food allergies are a concern, a 10-day advance notice is needed.
“Your Land, Your Legacy” is sponsored by the Washington County Community Foundation, Washington County Soil & Water Conservation District, Purdue Extension, USDA-Farm Service Agency, and the Natural Resources Conservation Service. Staff from these organizations will be represented at the program and available to assist you.
