World Soil Day
World Soil Day, observed annually on December 5th, raises awareness about the critical role soil plays in sustaining life on Earth. Soil is essential for agriculture, providing the foundation for food production and supporting biodiversity. It also plays a crucial role in mitigating climate change by storing carbon and regulating water cycles.
On this day, initiatives promote sustainable soil management practices such as reducing erosion, enhancing fertility through organic methods, and minimizing chemical use. By preserving soil health, we ensure resilient ecosystems, secure food supplies, and contribute to climate resilience. World Soil Day encourages everyone to recognize the importance of soil conservation and take action to protect this valuable resource for future generations.
