About
Since 2013, the Indiana Small Farm Conference has been the premier annual event for Indiana’s small- and diversified-farm community — helping them experience continuing education and enjoy farmer-to-farmer networking.
In 2021, the conference, our ninth overall, will be held online March 4-6, 2021 — with keynote, breakout and networking sessions (and more) held on the Microsoft Teams platform. There will be no in-person events due to public health concerns surrounding COVID-19.
There’s plenty of outstanding content being curated for the 2021 conference — which will cost just $35 for all three days for individual participants.
The conference will offer seven topic-area tracks, from which you can choose the sessions that make the most sense for your operation and goals. Those tracks are:
- Advanced Livestock
- Advanced Vegetable Production
- Beginning Farmer
- Farm Business & Marketing Plans
- Regenerative Agriculture
- Urban Agriculture
- Youth Focus and Engagement: Careers in Agriculture / Small Farms
The agenda will also offer a bonus topic track in Mental Health that will be free to all, regardless of registration for the conference.
We’re also excited to announce Dan and Julie Perkins of Perkins’ Good Earth Farm as our first keynote speakers. With a name inspired by Pearl S. Buck’s classic novel The Good Earth, Perkins’ Good Earth Farm is an organic vegetable farm on 20 acres in DeMotte. After balancing a career in soil and water conservation with farming on the side, the Perkins family made a transition in 2019 to full-time farming. They will discuss their experiences and, as they put it, “the beautiful, sometimes chaotic, get-your-hands-dirty, oh-so-satisfying working of the land.”
Are you an exhibitor eager to connect with people and provide information? You’ll get your own channel on the Teams interface and a space to present a poster for $70 for all three days.
We appreciate your understanding and continued support to build this growing conference that benefits so many among Indiana’s diverse agricultural community!
