Across Indiana, local food sales have more than doubled over the past 20 years. Hoosiers are looking for local food at their grocery stores, on the restaurant menu and in our schools. Communities, individuals, leaders and entrepreneurs are responding with a range of local food initiatives that meet the strong demand.
At these Local Food Summits, community members will have a chance to learn what is going on locally, as well as engage with neighbors to synergize efforts or plug in to programs. Summit attendees will learn about food hubs, food production, food councils and other related topics as well as voice their opinion toward productive strategies that strengthen current efforts.
If you have ever wanted to learn more about local food and meet others in your community leading these efforts, plan to attend! We are all eaters and therefore stakeholders for rebuilding local food systems.
