Dubois County 4-H Awards

Below you will find information regarding different types of awards available to both members and volunteers in Dubois County 4-H. 

 

County Fair Awards 

Green Ribbon- Green ribbons will be awarded to those exhibits that do not meet requirements. Green ribbons indicate to the 4-Her that the exhibit was not necessarily poor in quality, only that it did not meet the project requirements as indicated in the handbook.  A sticker indicating blue, red, and white will be attached to the green judging sticker to indicate what placing the exhibit would have received had it met the requirements. 

White Ribbon- White ribbons are awarded for exhibits that are below average in quality or content. 

Red Ribbon- Red ribbons are awarded for the exhibits that are average in quality or content. 

Blue Ribbon- Blue ribbons are awarded for the exhibits that are above average in quality or content. 

Reserve Champion- Reserve champions ribbons are awarded to the second highest quality exhibit in a single division if there is a worthy exhibit. 

Champion- Champion ribbons are awarded to the highest quality exhibit in a single division if there is a worthy exhibit. 

Reserve Grand Champion- Reserve grand champion ribbons are awarded to the second highest quality exhibit in one project area (if it's quality merits this award). 

Grand Champion- Grand champion ribbons are awarded to the highest quality exhibit in one project area (if it's quality merits this award). 

State Fair Entry- This is awarded to the most deserving exhibit that meets state fair requirements. The number of exhibits that are eligible to go to state fair varies per project area. 

 

State Fair Awards

Green Ribbon- participation

White Ribbon- poorly constructed or barely meets exhibit requirements

Red Ribbon- adequately constructed or does not fully meet exhibit requirements

Blue Ribbon- very complete exhibit, meets exhibit requirements, and is well constructed

Orange Ribbon (Merit)- exceptional blue ribbon exhibit 

Purple Ribbon (Sweepstakes)-  best overall exhibit in that 4-H project/subject matter area

 

Achievement Awards

One-time award (non-renewable)

Of the Year Awards 

The Member and Volunteer of the year 4-H awards are designed to recognize outstanding achievement and dedication to the 4-H program.

All active 4-H members, adult volunteers, committee members (excluding 4-H council & awards committee) are eligible to receive this outstanding honor as well as nominate candidates.

Nomination forms can be found at the bottom of this webpage under related files. Nominations are DUE to the Extension Office by June 30th.
