Animal Posters- County only
Youth can learn about livestock and companion animals through a variety of experiences. This project includes Beef, Dairy, Goat, Horse, Sheep, Small Animals, and Swine. Refer to the state projects section for posters on Cats, Dogs, Poultry, and Rabbits.
- Animal posters should be designed to teach those who view them about a specific topic.
- Select an age-appropriate topic for your species.
- Follow the general poster guidelines as listed under the "General Rules: 4-H Project Exhibits- Other than live animals" section found in the handbook. Posters must be 22x28 displayed horizontally with a stiff backing and clear protective covering. Posters and plastic sleeves are available for purchase in the White County Extension Office.
- Posters will be judged according to the following 3 grade levels: Grades 3-5 (level 1), Grades 6-8 (level 2), Grades 9-12 (level 3).
- All posters must include a reference list indicating where information was obtained,
giving credit to the original author, to complete the 4-H member’s exhibit. This
reference list should/might include website links, people and professionals
interviewed, books, magazines, etc. It is recommended this reference list be
attached to the back of the poster or to the front of the poster as part of the display
visible to the public. A judge is not to discredit an exhibit for the manner in which
references are listed. - General Record Sheet 4-H 528 must be completed and turned in with the poster.
Note: members enrolled in live animal projects have the option to exhibit a poster as described above for completion of the livestock project. For full completion, corresponding livestock educational activities must be completed in addition to the poster. Contact the White County Extension office for more information.
