Boone County 4-H, Lebanon Public Library and the Lebanon Middle School Science Club teamed up to bring STEM science to elementary-age members of the community.
Graham Cavins, 10, edged out his father Dr. Jonathon Cavins by a stride to win the Boone County 4-H Color Me Green Run. The Jamestown natives were some of the approximately 20 contestants who participated in the event, held Saturday, Oct. 1, which raised about $500 for the Boone County 4-H program.
Placing third in the 5K division was Molly Barber of Lebanon, Indiana.
Mini 4-H is a program designed to encourage positive development of children, Kindergarten through second grade (though not all counties are able to offer this to all grades). The goal of Mini 4-H is to help young children explore friendships outside the family; explore the way in which things work; practice both small and large muscle control; and think about the ways people work together on projects.
The mission of the Indiana Extension Homemakers is to strengthen families through continuing education, leadership development, and volunteer community support.
