2020 Marion County Master Gardener Program: When are the next classes?

The next Master Gardener classes conducted in Marion County will begin in September 2020.

What: Purdue Extension Master Gardener Classes in Marion County

Where: Indiana State Fairgrounds, Discovery Hall, Marion County (Indianapolis, IN)

When: Mid-September - Early December 2020

How Many: There will be two different programs this fall. One of them meets from 1:00-4:00 PM, and the other class meets from 6:00-9:00 PM. Both classes usually meet twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays with a few exceptions.

Cost: Basic registration fee TBD (estimated to be $170-180 per person (second person from same household is half price if materials are shared).

Class Topics: Class topics for the core curriculum will be: Master Gardener Orientation, Plant Science, Soils and Plant Nutrition, Insect Identification & Control/Pest Management, Plant Disease/Plant Disease Diagnosis, Weed Identification & Control, Invasive Species/Animal Pests (Nuisance Wildlife), Pesticide Use & Safety/Pesticide Alternatives, Lawn Care, Vegetable Gardening, Fruit Gardening, Woody Ornamentals: Plant Selection/Trees & Shrubs, Woody Ornamentals: Landscape Maintenance, Woody Ornamentals: Pruning Trees & Shrubs, Volunteer Guidelines & Opportunities, Herbaceous Ornamentals: Annual & Perennial Flowers, and Herbaceous Ornamentals: Ornamental Grasses & Flowering Bulbs. A final test (open-book exam) will be given during the last session.

Optional Class Topics: Home Landscape Design, House Plant Care, and Plant Propagation.
