Interested in becoming a Commercial Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) remote pilot or already flying without the required Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Certification? You’re in luck! The Purdue Cooperative Extension Service is piloting a UAV Signature Program teaching individuals UAV technology legal requirements, FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Knowledge Test preparation, and useful UAV applications. Every participant will get hands-on experience flying manual and planned UAV flights; along with taking home your own Tello UAV.
This program will be held in two locations this spring: Program Pilot #1 will take place at the Clinton County Fairgrounds in Frankfort, IN on March 4th, 7th, 11th, and 14th from 8:00 AM to 12:00pm. The second program will be held at the Davis Purdue Ag Center (DPAC) on March 18th and 19th from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. The cost of the program is $290. Course topics will include: camera settings, sensors. FAA Part 107 test preparation, making flight plans, keeping records, data management, and more. Fruit Pruning Workshop – March 8th
On Friday, March 8th Purdue will be hosting a Fruit Pruning Workshop from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Meigs Horticulture Research Farm (9101 S 100 E, Lafayette, IN). This program will feature demonstrations on pruning grapes, apple and peach trees, and brambles, with hands on experience for participants. Proper pruning is one of the keys to fruit production, as is promotes vegetative vigor, one of the keys to sustainable and high quality fruit production.
