BEEF PROJECT

ALL exhibitors in the beef project will attend beef ID day and complete online animal identification as specified below.

ALL exhibitors will register for the Wabash County 4-H Fair and declare pen assignments at wabashcounty.fairentry.com by June 15.

Steers & Commercial Heifers

  • Attend Beef ID Day on February 6, 2016 to have animal RFID tagged, county tagged, and weighed at the Wabash County Fairgrounds
  • Complete online animal ID at in.4honline.com by February 15.

Beef Purebred (Registered) Heifers

  • Attend Beef ID Day on February 6 or May 7, 2016 to have animal RFID tagged and county tagged at the Wabash County Fairgrounds
  • Complete online animal ID at in.4honline.com by February 15 (if tagged on February 6) or May 15 (if tagged on May 7).

Feeder Calves

  • Attend ID Day on May 7, 2016 to have animal RFID tagged, county tagged, and weighed. Note: Beef feeders are NOT eligible for state fair.

Complete online animal ID at in.4honline.com by May 15.

DAIRY PROJECT

Dairy Steers show in the Beef Project; please refer to Beef Rules for more details.

ALL exhibitors in the dairy project will complete online animal identification at in.4honline.com by May 15.

ALL dairy animals must have an RFID tag. These may picked up at the Extension Office prior to May 15. Six tags will be provided at no cost, additional tags will be $2.50 per tag.

ALL exhibitors will register for the Wabash County 4-H Fair and declare pen assignments at wabashcounty.fairentry.com by June 15.

ALL newly revised Dairy worksheets are due to the Wabash County Extension Office by June 15.

If an animal is leased, 4-H members must have a lease agreement on file no later than May 15 at the Extension Office.

GOAT PROJECT

ALL exhibitors in the goat project will complete online animal identification at in.4honline.com by May 15.

ALL exhibitors will register for the Wabash County 4-H Fair and declare pen assignments at wabashcounty.fairentry.com by June 15.

ALL newly revised Goat worksheets are due to the Wabash County Extension Office by June 15.

ONLY members taking meat and dairy wethers to State Fair must contact the Goat Superintendent by May 1 to have animals retinal scanned prior to the May 15 identification deadline.

HORSE & PONY PROJECT

ALL exhibitors in the Horse & Pony project will complete online animal identification at in.4honline.com by May 15.

ALL exhibitors will register for the Wabash County 4-H Fair and declare pen assignments at wabashcounty.fairentry.com by June 15.

ALL newly revised Horse worksheets are due to the Wabash County Extension Office by June 15.

  • Vaccination paper work MUST be on file for each enrolled Horse or Pony before bringing that animal to any 4-H event.

Lease/Ownership: Must complete and submit form proving ownership or lease of horse to Extension Office by May 15

POULTRY PROJECT

Ownership Deadline – May 1, 2016 (Except Broilers which must be 6-8 weeks old at time of show.)

All 4-H poultry must originate from a National Poultry Improvement Plan (NPIP) official Pullorum-Typhoid Clean flock or have had a negative Pullorum-Typhoid test within ninety (90) day preceding exhibition. If bird originates from certified flock, no test is needed for the first year. However, once the bird is 1 year and older it must be tested each year even if it originated from a certified flock. Blood testing will be available on day of check-in at the county fair for a small fee.

RABBIT PROJECT

Deadline for meat pen/single fryer doe possession and identification sheet April 1, 2016, due to Extension Office.

Deadline for all other rabbit possession and identification sheet is May 1, 2016,due to Extension Office.

Tattoo Meat Pens and Single Fryers Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at 6 p.m.,  Rabbit/Poultry Barn

SHEEP PROJECT

ALL exhibitors in the Sheep project will complete online animal identification at in.4honline.com by May 15.

ALL exhibitors will register for Wabash County 4-H Fair and declare pen assignments at wabashcounty.fairentry.com by June 15.

ONLY members taking sheep to State Fair will be retinal scanned. The 4-H member MUST contact the Sheep Superintendent by May 1 to schedule an appointment to have sheep retinal scanned prior to the May 15 identification deadline.

SWINE PROJECT

ALL exhibitors in the Swine project will complete online animal identification at in.4honline.com by May 15.

ALL exhibitors will register for the Wabash County 4-H Fair and declare pen assignments at wabashcounty.fairentry.com by June 15.

To be eligible for State Fair, members MUST submit a hair DNA sample and complete online animal ID.  This must be done prior to May 15, 2016.  It is the responsibility of the member to pick those up at the Extension Office. In addition, all members exhibiting at State Fair must be  PQA (Pork Quality Assurance) certified. Please contact the Extension Office for information regarding State Fair PQA certification.

VEAL PROJECT

4-H members taking veal are a part of the Beef Project and will show in the Beef Show in a veal class.  Please refer to deadlines in the Beef Project. 

Calf prices will be the same for each calf and are determined at time of order.  Orders must be placed by February 5, 2016.

ANIMAL LOCATION FORMS

If a 4-H member need to submit an Animal Location form to the Extension office if animals are NOT kept at the primary address on file in the Extension office.  If you do need to complete an Animal Location form, you must completely answer the form for 4-H Council to review your form.  Link to Animal Location form is listed below.
