4-H Livestock Projects and Worksheets

BEEF PROJECT

Beef Steers/Dairy Steer/Crossbred Heifers ID Day is Saturday, Feb. 7 at the Wabash County Fairgrounds.  You must complete beef animal ID on 4HOnline on February 7.  

Registered heifers may come to either the February OR May ID Day.  You must complete animal ID on 4HOnline.

Beef Heifers and Feeder/Dairy Feeder calves ID Day is Saturday, May 2 at the Wabash County Fairgrounds.  You must complete animal ID on 4HOnline.

Beef worksheets are due to the Extension office by 4 pm on May 1.  

Livestock Record Sheets (expense sheets) are due to Extension office by 4 pm on June 19, 2015.

DAIRY PROJECT

No paper forms will be used for Dairy in 2015.  Additional information to come.  

Dairy worksheets are due to the Extension Office by 4 pm on May 1.

Livestock Record Sheets (expense sheets) are due to Extension office by 4 pm on June 19, 2015.

GOAT PROJECT

All exhibitors will complete ONLINE county and state fair animal ID by May 1.  Meat and Dairy wethers going to State Fair must enroll online by May 1 to be eligible for state fair.  Exhibitors will then be contacted by the goat committee to have those animals retinal scanned by May 15.   

Livestock worksheets are due to the Extension office by 4 pm on May 1.

HORSE & PONY PROJECT

Horse & Pony ID must be completed online by midnight on May 1.  Livestock worksheets are due to club leaders at time specified.

POULTRY PROJECT

Poultry does not require animal ID.  Poultry must be in your possession by May 15; except broilers, which must be hatched 6-8 weeks before the show.

Pen assignment forms due to Extension office by June 19, 2015. 

Manuals and record sheets will be due at fair check in.

Poultry Testing

All 4-H poultry must originate from a National Poultry Improvement Plan (NPIP) official Pullorum-Typhoid Clean flock or have had a negative Pullorum-Typhoid test within ninety (90) day preceding exhibition. If bird originates from certified flock, no test is needed for the first year. However, once the bird is 1 year and older it must be tested each year even if it originated from a certified flock. Blood testing will be available on day of check-in at the county fair for a small fee.

RABBIT PROJECT

Meat Pen/Single Fryer forms due to Extension Office by 4 pm on April 1.

Rabbit ID forms due to Extension Office by 4 pm on May 1.

Manuals and worksheets due to club leader by assigned date.

Meat pen/Single Fryer tattoo day is June 18, 2015.

Deadline to send in final selection forms for 4-H Fair is June 19, 2015, due to Extension office.

SHEEP PROJECT

Sheep ID forms are due to at ID Day, May 2, 2015.  All sheep must be ear-tagged and retinal scanned, cost is $2 per animal.

All exhibitors will complete ONLINE county and state fair animal ID by May 1.

Sheep worksheets are due to the Extension office by 4 pm on May 1. 

Livestock Record Sheets (expense sheets) are due to Extension office by 4 pm on June 19, 2015.

SWINE PROJECT

Swine animal ID will be completed ONLINE by May 15.  DNA samples are required for state fair ONLY.  This must be done prior to May 15.  NO SWINE WILL BE ELIGIBLE FOR STATE FAIR IF DNA SAMPLES WERE NOT SUBMITTED BY MAY 15.

Swine worksheets are due to the Extension office by 4 pm on May 1.

Livestock record sheets (expense sheets) are due to Extension office by 4 pm on June 19, 2015.

VEAL PROJECT

4-H members interested in taking the veal project must contact the Extension office by February 1. 

Calf prices will be the same for each calf and are determined at time of order.  Orders must be placed by February 8, 2015.

ANIMAL RELOCATION FORMS

If a 4-H member need to submit an Animal Relocation form to the Extension office if animals are NOT kept at the primary address on file in the Extension office.  If you do need to complete an Animal Relocation form, you must completely answer the form for 4-H Council to review your form.  Link to Animal Relocation form is listed below.
