A six-hour series was offered to youth who wished to focus on dissection of multiple species within the animal kingdom. Participants shared they loved seeing what was inside of different animals. Several youth indicated they were surprised at how different each animal's internal organs were arranged.
Steuben County is home to 101 lakes that serve as recreational, environmental, and diverse wildlife landscapes for a signification portion of the County's population. From boaters, to anglers, to farmers, and even hunters there is a challenge to effectively share the natural resources our 101 lakes provide. Early education on the importance of conserving our valuable natural resources took place with 7th grade youth at Duck Days.
According to the U.S. Department of Labor, Global Positioning Systems (GPS) technology is one of the most prominent advances of the 21st Century. The range of real world applications is enormous, and are well-documented including military, travel, meteorology, recreation, and agriculture. Youth experienced this first hand at Prairie Heights Middle School.
Social stigmas and the fear of disclosure result in ignored symptoms, serve as barriers to treatment, and reduce quality of life. 63% of the respondents increased their ability to talk about mental health with others following the exercise.
