I remember a sign hanging behind the desk of a former head of the Purdue Department of Entomology. The painted slate sign included a picture of a ladybug with the words "Don't Bug Me."
Check houseplant leaves for brown, dry edges, which indicates too little relative humidity in the house. Increase humidity by running a humidifier, grouping plants or using pebble trays.

Crops and gizzards! To some of you, those words might sound like the title of a new fantasy role-playing tabletop game. Remember when Dungeons & Dragons came out in 1974? As far as I know, "crops and gizzards" is not the name of a computer game. A few folks might link the words to the anatomy of a chicken or some other bird. In fact, the words are names of organs in the alimentary system of a bird.

Q. How can I keep the beetles away and keep the invisible insects from eating holes in my rose leaves? The beetles have not been too bad the last couple of years, but the holes in the leaves never stop. I have tried so many different kinds of insecticides but to no avail. Our soil is not too sandy, but it is not all dirt either. Drainage does not seem to be a problem as we live on a slight incline above the street and driveway.
