Not a State Fair Project

GREEN RECORD BOOK COMPLETION REQUIREMENT:
Complete a Shelby County Record Sheet.

EXHIBIT GUIDELINES:
• See Poster Guidelines on Page 62 of the Shelby County Handbook
• See Notebook Guidelines on Page 62 of the Shelby County Handbook
• All displays should be no larger than 3’ x 3’

CONSUMER BEEF
Division 1
Exhibit a poster illustrating the wholesale cuts in both the fore and hind quarters, in relation to a live animal, accompanied by a written report (attached to the back of your poster) of the following two activities:
a. Study the major parts of the animal.
b. Visit a farm with breeding stock.

Division 2
Exhibit a poster showing the wholesale cuts broken into various retail cuts in relation to a
picture of a live animal. Also, complete the retail price check sheet from your project manual and
attach it to the poster.

Division 3
Exhibit a poster illustrating the steps involved in beef production from the farm to the supermarket. List the services you pay for at each step along the way. Also complete the myth-fact sheet and attach it to the back of the poster.

Division 4
Exhibit a poster showing some of the by-products of beef. Attach to this poster a more complete list of by-products and their uses.

Division 5
Exhibit a poster on the nutritional aspects of beef and its use in the family diet.

Divisions 6 - 10
Exhibit an educational display, poster, notebook, or another educational item relating to what you have learned about Consumer Beef. Suggestions: Cooking Methods, Recipes, Bone Shapes, Beef Cuts, Buying Beef, The Price of Beef, etc.


CONSUMER DAIRY: Divisions 1 thru 10

Exhibit a poster or an educational display representing some aspect of the Consumer Dairy Project. Your Consumer Dairy Folder or Notebook must be included with your poster or educational display. It should contain information about your presentation, copies of the publications you have read, and any other information related to the Consumer Dairy Project. Your folder or notebook will be exhibited with the poster.

CONSUMER GOAT: Divisions 1 – 10

Exhibit an educational display, a poster, a notebook, a log, an essay, or any other educational items reflecting what you have learned in the Consumer Goat Project.

CONSUMER LAMB

Division 1
Exhibit an educational poster with a diagram of a lamb carcass identifying the wholesale cuts. Choose one wholesale cut and list all of the retail cuts that come from the wholesale cut.

Division 2
Exhibit a file box or notebook of your ten favorite recipes using lamb.

Division 3
Exhibit a notebook containing reports on the following topics. Each report should be two to three pages long. Include: Factors affecting the cost of lamb AND Another topic of your choosing concerned with something you have learned in this project.

Divisions 4 & Above
Exhibit a poster or a report about the production of a finished commercial product (edible or inedible) from a lamb by-product OR write a report on each of the three activities in which you participate. Put the reports in a notebook.

CONSUMER PORK: Divisions 1 – 10

Exhibit a log, an essay, or any other educational item reflecting what you have learned in the Consumer Pork Project. You may select your topic from the suggestions listed in”4-H Consumer Pork Is…” (4-H 287-A)

CONSUMER POULTRY: Divisions 1 – 10

Exhibit an educational display, a poster, a notebook, a log, an essay, or any other educational items reflecting what you have learned in the Consumer Poultry Project. You may select your topic from the suggestions listed in the Consumer Poultry Manual.


CONSUMER RABBIT : Divisions 1 – 10

Exhibit one of the following:
• An educational display, a poster, a notebook, a log, an essay, or any other educational item reflecting what you have learned in the Consumer Rabbit Project.

Exhibit Suggestions for all divisions:10 Recipes - Poster, 20 Recipes - Notebook, 12 month Log on raising rabbits, Poster on meat comparison between Rabbit, Chicken, Beef, Veal, Mutton, Poultry, and Pork - Show nutritional value, etc., Story on rabbits as a commercial factor in the rabbit industry: raising, processing, killing, cooking, bleaching, packing, Raising rabbits from birth to market, Production and performance, Steps in rabbit dressing, Poster on parts of the rabbit, Any other topics relating to Consumer Rabbits
