Construction Sets

CONSTRUCTION SETS
Not a State Fair Project

Record Book Completion Requirement:
• Complete a Shelby County Record Sheet.

Exhibit Guidelines:
• Exhibits in Grade 3 (Division 1) may be from a kit. All other grades must exhibit an original design - not copied from an instruction sheet. Kits must be modified to reflect the 4-H’ers ideas.
• Exhibits must be sturdy (able to withstand being moved several times). A sturdy base is recommended. All pieces should be securely attached.
• Exhibits must be no larger than 24” x 24”. Please remember, they must be moved to be put in place for exhibit.
• Exhibits may be made from Legos, K’nex or any other construction set (i.e. Tinker toys, Lincoln Logs).

NOTE: Legos may be entered in the Any Other Craft division OR in Construction Sets (not both).

Division 1 (Grade 3)
Manual:Shelby County Construction Sets Manual
• Build a kit of your choosing. Examples: a boat, statue, an animal, etc.

Division 2 (Grade 4)
Manual:Shelby County Construction Sets Manual
• Build a “fictional” character or “thing”. Examples: an animal, a person, a totem pole, etc.

Division 3  (Gr. 5 & 6)
Manual:Shelby County Construction Sets Manual
• Build a structure or a vehicle. Examples: a house, a barn, any type of building, a car,
   plane, farm equipment, etc. NO LARGER THAN 18” SQUARE.

Division 4  (Gr. 7 & 8)
Manual:Shelby County Construction Sets Manual
• Build any two related objects. At least one of which has moveable features (not motorized). Examples: two building, or a windmill and a barn, etc. NO LARGER THAN 18” SQUARE.

Division 5  (Gr 9 & Up)
Manual:Shelby County Construction Sets Manual
• Build a display of at least three related objects. At least one object moveable and one object motorized. NO LARGER THAN 2 FEET SQUARE.
