Indiana 4-H alumni are invited to participate in the Raise Your Hand Challenge to help boost national youth enrollment to 10 million by 2025. Alumni from each state can participate by registering at http://4-h.org/raise-your-hand/ and reposting, tweeting or tagging other alumni on social media, using the hashtag #4HGrown. The state with the most registered votes by June 30, 2017 will receive $20,000 to expand 4-H recruitment and programming.
Indiana Gov. Mike Pence issued a proclamation Monday (Oct. 3) declaring Oct. 3-7 4-H Week in Indiana. The Indiana 4-H Youth Development Program, a component of Purdue Extension, is one of the state's largest youth organizations, with more than 130,000 active members representing all 92 counties.
The Indiana Wildlife Habitat Education Program (WHEP) created a new Facebook page to announce national and state events. This national program developed through the 4-H Youth Development and FFA teaches wildlife identification, wildlife natural history and habitat management.

4-H'ers can complete their poultry projects even though the threat of the H5 avian influenza virus will prevent them from taking their birds to the Indiana county and state fairs this season, a Purdue Extension 4-H youth development specialist says.
Applications are now being accepted for the Indiana 4-H Dairy Youth Academy, a program for students in grades 10-12 who want to learn more about careers in the dairy industry.
Academy participants will meet industry professionals and attend workshops on farm management, veterinary medicine and agribusiness.
