Model Craft (Craft)

 

State Fair Entries:

Putnam County policy is to send from the eligible exhibits, two entries from model craft.

 

General requirements:

  1. Comply with all the requirements listed at the beginning of this “4-H Exhibit Hall Project” section page 54 and “Indiana and Putnam County 4-H Policy/ Terms” section page 21.
  2. Attach the official county FairEntry exhibit label to each of the item.
  3. Attach to project—4-H 618A-W “4-H Craft Information Card” for description of work completed on the project.
  4. New—If multiple pieces make up the exhibit , a photograph of the complete exhibit should be attached to the exhibit so the total exhibit can properly be displayed.
  5. Extension staff may not be able to transport the exhibit to the state fair. Please review the letter available on Wednesday of fair week or at checkout time.

 

General requirements:   A small scale replica

Exhibits must be a small scale replica and meet the following criteria:

  1. Must be of injected styrene plastics
  2. At least 25% of the exhibit must be painted
  3. Wood, paper, clay, die-cast, or snap together models are not permitted
  4. Screws are not permitted
  5. Pre-painted or pre-decaled factory models are not permitted
  6. If the model is being built from a kit, include a copy of the instructions with the craft information card.
  7. Legos are not considered models and are to be exhibited as Lego Craft

 

Beginners (Grades 3-5)

  1. Exhibit one model assembled from a purchased model kit.
  2. No display base can be used for models in Division I.
  3. The model is not to be larger than 24 "x 24" – side to side, and not over 18” tall.

 

Intermediate (Grades 6-8)

Exhibit one of the following:

  1. One model assembled from a purchased kit.
  2. One funny model made using extra model kit parts.
  3. A collection of models - no more than 3.

 

If a display base is used for a model or group of models, it can not exceed 600 square inches – side to side.

Landscaping can be used with a display in “Intermediate”.

 

Advanced (Grades 9 & up)

Exhibit one of the following:

  1. One model assembled from a purchased model kit.
  2. One funny model made using extra parts.
  3. A collection of models - no more than 5.
  4. Original small scale replica of a design you have created. Exhibit your design with the model. No kits can be used . If a display base is used for a model or group of models, it can not exceed 600 square inches. The display and model/s are not to be over 18 inches tall. Landscaping can be used with a display in “Advanced”.
