Junior Leader News – March 4th, 2017
MEETING SCHEDULE: The Junior Leaders meet the third Monday of each month (with the exception of July) at 6:00 p.m. in the upstairs meeting room of Expo East at the fairgrounds (unless announced otherwise). (Executive Committee: Please try to be at least 15 minutes early to each meeting to help set up. If you will be unable to attend, let an advisor know.)
SNACK SIGN-UP: Go to tinyurl.com/Spring2017Snacks and sign up to bring snacks to an upcoming meeting.
NEXT MEETING: Monday, March 20th, 6:00-7:00 in the upstairs meeting room of Expo East. And once again: BRING A FRIEND AND BOTH YOU AND THE FRIEND WILL GET CANDY…while supplies last. WEAR GREEN TO CELEBRATE ST. PATRICK’S DAY!
MARCH 11TH HOME SHOW – MORE HELP NEEDED! On March 11th, your help is needed to manage a LEGO contest for kids. Shifts are 9:30-12:15 and/or 12:30-3:15. Sign up at http://tinyurl.com/2017homeshow.
MARCH EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM: We have rescheduled for Joan to present a program entitled “Think B4 U Tweet”, a program on being smart on social media.
T-SHIRT DESIGN COMPETITION – ENTRIES DUE AT NEXT MEETING: T-Shirt designs are needed! Bring your t-shirt ideas to the next Junior Leader meeting. Did you know there is a “Design Lab” at https://www.customink.com/ where you can design a shirt? You can save/send/print your design idea to share with Junior Leaders! Or maybe you might like to just customize a classic 4-H design at http://www.4-hmall.org/Category/apparel-t-shirts-custom.aspx. Bring your ideas and suggestions to the next meeting!
SHARE-THE-FUN PERFORMING ARTS EVENT: The annual performing arts event has been scheduled for Friday, April 7th at the Memorial Opera House. Please mark your calendar. Plan to perform and help put on the event!
The Share-the-Fun Committee has begun planning, and you are still welcome to join the committee. The committee will meet for approximately 30 minutes following the regular business meeting on March 20th.
FINANCIAL EDUCATION PROGRAMS: Purdue Extension - Porter County & Porter County 4-H will partner with 1st Source Bank to provide educational programming for youth, young adults, and parents on financial topics. Go to http://tinyurl.com/FinancialEdMarch2017 to get the details, RSVP, and link to a survey to give input on the topics for the evening! This is important #ADULTING kind of stuff, bring a parent/guardian and join us!
4-H 4 MILE HUSTLE & KIDS FUN RUN: Begin researching fun ideas to incorporate into this year’s kids’ run at the 4-H 4 Mile Hustle. Do some online searching for other kids’ runs as well as kids’ fun runs that are specifically at fairs.
ATTENTION SENIORS: The Porter County 4-H scholarships application will be mailed directly to seniors. It will also soon be available at the Extension Office and online at www.extension.purdue.edu/porter. The application deadline is Friday, March 24th, 2017.
DROP/ADD DEADLINE IS MAY 15TH: Check your 4-H Online account and make sure you’re enrolled in Junior Leaders! Oftentimes 4-Hers forget that they need to enroll in Junior Leaders just like you do for other projects.
