Completed record sheets are due into the Extension Office on or before June 29, 2020, 4:00 PM. No records, or late/incomplete record sheets will result in an exhibit being considered for EXHIBITION ONLY—NO PLACING.
To complete your Pet project, you are to exhibit at the Noble County Community Fair. You are to exhibit both of the following:
1. Exhibit your pet. Your Pet is to be enrolled in the Pet project only. You are responsible for the care of your animal and all materials needed, such as cages and food. You are to begin your project with the animal in your possession by May 1st.
2. Exhibit an educational poster, displayed horizontally on a 22" x 28" poster board with a stiff backing and covered with clear plastic. Place a label in the lower right hand corner of the poster giving Name, Township, Year in Project and Grade as of January 1 of current year. Title your poster: “PETS”. The exhibit should demonstrate what was learned and provide viewers with educational information. Your project manual has several suggestions for poster topics. See Poster Construction Rules on page 24 of your Handbook.
Posters are to be entered in the 4-H Exhibit Hall on Saturday, July 11, 2020, between 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. Posters will be judged on Thursday, July 16, 2020, Starting at 12:00 Noon. Animal judging will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday July 16, 2020.
Poster and animal classes will be divided according to grade in school at time of 4-H enrollment.
JUNIOR—grades 3, 4 and 5
INTERMEDIATE—grades 6, 7 and 8
SENIORS—grades 9, 10, 11 and 12.
Animals may include, but are not limited to, gerbils, guinea pigs, hamsters, mice, rats, birds, reptiles, ferrets, monkeys, spiders, pygmy goats, rabbits, dogs.
A Champion and Reserve Champion may be selected from each division. A Grand Champion may be selected from the division champions.
Awards will be based on the educational poster and the animal exhibit combined. Both exhibits must be entered at the Fair on proper dates and by proper times.
Members may exhibit one specie of animal, but may take more than one animal if they are kept in the same cage. You are limited to one cage. A card with your name, township, and specie of animal must be attached to the container. Members must exhibit their animal to complete, unless the animal dies after May 1. (Complete animal record to date of death and then indicate death on record sheet; exhibit the educational poster to complete the project.) The live animals will be brought to the fair one day only; Thursday of Fair. Enter animal(s) from 12 Noon to 1 p.m. Animals are released at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday unless circumstances warrant an early release. Animal judging is to begin at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday.
